Starting off the Memorial Day Weekend

I took a half day on Friday (2026-05-22) to begin the main transplant of plants. On this day I transplanted most of the peppers.

Day 2 of the transplants

On Saturday (2026-05-23) I continued transplant secondary plants such as Tarragon, Italian Genovese Basil, Finocchio Fennel, King Henry Violas, and Gem Blend Signet Marigolds. I also scattered Contender Bush Beans, Mardi Gras Beans, and old herb seeds such as cilantro and basil. I direct seed Honeynut Winter Squash, Gherkin Hokus, Coral Fountain Love-Lies-Bleeding Amaranth, and a couple Glass Gem Flint corn where some of the transplant corn seemed to fail.

A few of the pepper plants have fairly weak stems. Specifically the Thai Dragon Peppers, Shishito Chile Peppers, and a couple of the Ajis. I used foot long fiberglass posts and twine to provide these peppers support. I also placed support for the one Shishito Chile Peppers on the west most part of bed 4. It’s bushing incredibly low and a few of the branches were on the ground. I pruned a few branches that were too long.

Day 3

I went to the City Community Garden briefly to plant Patty Pan squash and clip off the flowers on the violas.
